A happy collaboration: About the artists/authors

First Look at Samuel
The artist authors.

Lois Main Templeton has been painting and writing for most of her eighty years.  One of Indiana’s most noted living artists, her work has been exhibited in numerous invitational exhibitions and one person shows nationally, as well as throughout the Midwest.  Her abstract paintings hang in museums and in many public and private collections.  Lois’ talks on an artist’s life –or is it the art of life?— have drawn audiences from universities to correctional facilities, and her description of the creative process, as described in The Studio Book,: Finding Your Way,  has been the subject of numerous articles.   Who Makes The Sun Rise? Is her first book for children.

Phil O’Malley, studio partner with Lois Templeton and creative director for Who Makes The Sun Rise? is a professional artist and Renaissance man who has created two- and three-dimensional works in fine art, culinary art, interior design, architectural design, graphic design and event design. While working with Lois on Who Makes The Sun Rise? Phil has continued to create in a variety of media that have sparked new journeys and collaborations with Lois. “I have found that extraordinary imagination, perpetual curiosity and unstoppable inventiveness need to be employed by making something,” he says. “Making Samuels’ journey hatch and develop has been a happy collaboration.”
